Mitsubishi Outlander rear seat belt comfort guides stored in the glove box

Two seat belt comfort guides are supplied with the Mitsubishi Outlander and stored in the glove box. When a guide is not being used, remove it from the seat belt and return it to the glove box so it does not remain loose inside the passenger compartment.

The comfort guide changes the path of the shoulder belt by drawing it slightly toward the outside of the vehicle. This can help keep the belt away from the occupant's neck while maintaining the correct routing across the shoulder and chest.

Mitsubishi Outlander seat belt comfort guide components including snap hook, belt clip and slot

  1. Snap hook used to attach the comfort guide to the seat belt clip.
  2. Seat belt clip that provides the attachment point for the guide.
  3. Slot through which the seat belt webbing is positioned.

1. Attach snap hook A on the comfort guide securely to seat belt clip B.

2. Pinch both edges of the seat belt webbing between your fingers and carefully guide the belt through slot C in the comfort guide. Make sure the webbing lies flat and is not folded or twisted.

The comfort guide may also be installed in the inverted position when this provides a better shoulder belt path for the occupant.

WARNING

  • Failure to follow these warnings and installation instructions may reduce the effectiveness of the seat belt and increase the likelihood or severity of injury in a collision.
    • Always route the shoulder belt over the shoulder and diagonally across the chest. The belt must remain securely on the shoulder and must not slip toward the arm or off the shoulder.
    • Do not wear the seat belt inside out, folded or twisted. Install the comfort guide so the elastic cord remains behind the seat belt and the guide slot faces the occupant's body.
    • Do not use a comfort guide when installing or securing a child restraint system.

CAUTION

  • Do not apply excessive force to snap hook A while attaching it to the seat belt clip. Forcing the hook may bend, crack or otherwise damage the comfort guide.
  • Do not fold the seatback while the comfort guide remains attached to the seat belt clip. The folding seatback may trap or damage the guide.
  • Do not attach SRS tag 1 to the seat belt clip or use the tag as an attachment point for the comfort guide.
