Mitsubishi Outlander airbag warning labels located on the driver and front passenger sunvisors

Warning labels containing important information about the Mitsubishi Outlander front airbag system are installed in the locations shown in the illustration.

  1. SRS airbag warning label

The warning labels are attached to the surfaces of the sunvisors so they can be reviewed by the driver and front passenger.

WARNING

  • Never install a rear-facing child restraint or infant restraint in a seating position protected by an active airbag directly in front of it. If the airbag deploys, it can strike the restraint with considerable force and cause serious injury or death.

SRS airbag warning light

Mitsubishi Outlander SRS airbag warning light location in the instrument cluster

The SRS airbag warning light, identified by the symbol Mitsubishi Outlander SRS airbag warning symbol in the instrument panel, monitors the electrical circuits for the airbag systems, seat belt pretensioners and associated wiring.

When the ignition switch is placed in the ON position, the SRS airbag warning light illuminates for approximately 7 seconds and then turns off. This sequence indicates that the monitored Supplemental Restraint System components have completed their initial check and are operating normally.

The airbag and/or seat belt pretensioner systems require inspection if any of the following conditions occurs:

  • The SRS airbag warning light remains illuminated for longer than approximately 7 seconds after the ignition is switched on.
  • The SRS airbag warning light flashes intermittently.
  • The SRS airbag warning light does not illuminate during the initial system check.
  • The SRS airbag warning light and/or an associated warning display appears while the Mitsubishi Outlander is being driven.

Under any of these conditions, one or more airbags or seat belt pretensioners may not operate as intended during a collision.

The system must be inspected and repaired by qualified personnel. Mitsubishi Motors recommends visiting an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer for this service.

WARNING

  • If the SRS airbag warning light remains on, the driver airbag, front passenger airbag, knee airbags, seat-mounted side airbags, curtain airbags and/or seat belt pretensioners may not operate correctly in an accident. To reduce the risk of injury to the occupants, have the Mitsubishi Outlander inspected immediately by an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer.
