CAUTION

  • During the first 1,200 miles (2,000 km), follow these recommendations to help achieve the best long-term engine performance, reliability, and fuel economy from your new Mitsubishi Outlander. Ignoring the break-in recommendations may contribute to reduced engine performance and a shorter service life.

  • Avoid driving for extended periods at a constant speed, whether high or low. Do not operate the engine above 4,000 rpm during the break-in period.
  • Do not use full-throttle acceleration in any gear.
  • Avoid rapid or aggressive starts whenever possible.
  • Avoid hard or unnecessary braking as much as practical.
  • Do not tow a trailer during the first 500 miles (800 km). Towing during this initial period may place excessive load on the engine, axle, and other drivetrain components.
