Periodically remove loose dust, dirt, and debris from the interior trim, plastic components, and seats of the Mitsubishi Outlander using a vacuum cleaner or a soft-bristled brush. Clean vinyl and leather surfaces with a clean, soft cloth lightly dampened with a mild soap solution, then wipe the surfaces again with a dry, soft cloth.
Leather upholstery requires regular cleaning and proper care to preserve its appearance, texture, and finish over time.
Before applying any fabric protector or upholstery treatment, carefully read the product manufacturer's instructions and recommendations. Some fabric protection products contain chemicals that may stain, discolor, or bleach seat materials.
Use only a soft cloth lightly dampened with water when cleaning the meter and gauge lens.
WARNING
- Do not use excessive water, acidic cleaners, or hot steam-cleaning equipment on the seats. These cleaning methods can damage the seat or the occupant classification sensors.
Damage to these sensors may affect proper operation of the airbag system and could increase the risk of serious personal injury.
CAUTION
- Never use benzine, paint thinner, or similar solvents to clean the interior of the Mitsubishi Outlander.
- When cleaning the meter or gauge lens, use only a soft cloth lightly dampened with water. Do not use rough cloths, alcohol, benzine, thinner, other solvents, or paper towels containing chemical cleaning agents. These materials may scratch, cloud, or discolor the lens surface.
- Do not spray water or any other liquid directly onto the meter lens. Liquid entering the surrounding components may cause the system to malfunction.
- Small particles of dirt can act as abrasives and damage leather surfaces, so remove them promptly. Do not use saddle soap, automotive wax, polish, oil, cleaning fluid, solvent, detergent, or ammonia-based cleaner on leather upholstery because these products may damage its natural finish.
- Do not apply fabric protection products unless their use is specifically recommended by the product or vehicle manufacturer.
- Do not use glass cleaner or plastic cleaner on meter or gauge lens covers. These products may damage, discolor, or cloud the lens material.
Air fresheners
Many air fresheners contain solvents or other chemicals that can affect interior materials. If an air freshener is used in the Mitsubishi Outlander, observe the following precautions:
- Hanging-type air fresheners may cause permanent staining or discoloration if they remain in contact with interior trim. Position the air freshener so it hangs freely without touching the dashboard, console, upholstery, or other interior surfaces.
- Liquid-type air fresheners are often attached to air vents. If the liquid leaks or spills, it can immediately damage or discolor nearby interior surfaces.
Carefully read and follow all instructions and precautions supplied by the air freshener manufacturer before installing or using the product.
Floor mats
WARNING
- To prevent interference with the accelerator, brake, or other pedals that could contribute to a collision, serious injury, or death:
- NEVER place one floor mat on top of another in the driver's footwell, and never install a floor mat upside down, backward, or in an incorrect position.
- Use of genuine Mitsubishi Motors floor mats specifically designed for the correct Mitsubishi Outlander model and model year is recommended.
- Always secure the floor mats correctly using the designated floor mat positioning hooks.
- Make sure the driver's floor mat does not interfere with the movement or full travel of any pedal.
- Inspect the floor mats periodically to confirm that they remain correctly positioned and securely attached.
- After cleaning the Mitsubishi Outlander interior or removing and reinstalling the mats, verify that each floor mat has been fitted correctly.
Using genuine Mitsubishi Motors floor mats can help protect the vehicle carpeting from dirt and wear while also making routine interior cleaning easier.
Clean the floor mats regularly and replace them if they become excessively worn, damaged, or unable to remain securely positioned.
Floor mat installation
Example

The Mitsubishi Outlander is equipped with floor mat positioning hook(s). The number, design, and arrangement of these hooks may vary depending on the seating position and vehicle configuration.
When installing genuine Mitsubishi Motors floor mats, follow the instructions supplied with the mats as well as the procedure below:
1. Place the floor mat correctly in the footwell so that its grommet holes align precisely with the corresponding positioning hook(s).
2. Secure the floor mat grommet holes onto the hook(s), then check that the mat lies flat and remains properly positioned.
3. Confirm that the floor mat does not interfere with pedal operation. With the ignition in the OFF position and the shift lever in P (Park), fully depress and release each pedal. Make sure the floor mat does not restrict pedal travel or prevent any pedal from returning freely to its normal position.
For additional information about selecting or correctly installing floor mats in your Mitsubishi Outlander, it is recommended that you consult an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer.

Cleaning frameless digital rearview mirror (if so equipped)
- Keep both the frameless digital rearview mirror and the camera area on the rear window clean so the system can provide a clear image.
- Clean the mirror surface and camera lens gently with a clean, dry, soft cloth.
- When cleaning the camera area on the rear window, use a soft cloth dampened with water and a neutral detergent solution. After cleaning, dry the area completely with a clean, soft cloth.
- Never use alcohol, benzine, thinner, or similar solvents on the mirror or camera lens. These substances may cause discoloration, deterioration, optical damage, or system malfunction.

- Do not attach stickers, films, or other materials, including transparent products, over camera area 1 of the rear window.
- Do not strike, scratch, or otherwise damage the area surrounding the camera unit. Do not touch the camera lens or remove the screw installed on the camera unit. If the camera unit is damaged in an accident or by another impact, contact a MITSUBISHI dealer or qualified workshop for inspection.
Seat belts
Clean the seat belts by gently wiping the webbing with a sponge dampened in a mild soap solution.
Allow the seat belt webbing to dry completely in the shade before allowing the belts to retract or using them again.
WARNING
- Do not allow wet seat belts to retract into the seat belt mechanism. NEVER use bleach, dye, strong chemical cleaners, or solvents on the seat belts because these substances can significantly weaken the webbing and reduce its protective capability.
Cleaning the seat tracks
CAUTION
- Clean the seat tracks periodically to prevent accumulated dirt and debris from restricting normal seat movement and adjustment.
Use a high-powered vacuum cleaner periodically to remove dirt, sand, and debris from the seat tracks. Accumulated material can interfere with smooth seat adjustment. If necessary, a suitable wet cleaning agent may also be used to remove stubborn contamination.
