Chassis control is an electronic vehicle control system that integrates the following functions to help improve stability, handling, and ride quality in the Mitsubishi Outlander:

  • Active Yaw Control [AYC]
  • Active Ride Control

Active Yaw Control [AYC]

Active Yaw Control [AYC] is designed to improve cornering performance and vehicle stability by managing yaw moment, or the rotational movement of the vehicle around its vertical axis. The system adjusts the difference in driving force between the left and right wheels and can also control individual wheel braking when the Mitsubishi Outlander does not respond to steering input as expected, such as during rapid steering maneuvers or when driving on a slippery road surface.

When the ASC system is switched off, Active Yaw Control [AYC] is also disabled.

The amount of braking control applied by AYC varies according to the Drive Mode selected with the Drive Mode selector switch.

If AYC is not operating properly, the master warning light illuminates and the "Chassis Control" warning message appears in the multi-information display.

If the chassis control warning message appears, it may indicate that the Active Yaw Control system is not functioning correctly. Have the system inspected as soon as practical. It is recommended that you visit an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer for this service.

  • Active Yaw Control [AYC] is designed to assist vehicle handling and stability, but it does not improve the stopping capability of the Mitsubishi Outlander. Always monitor surrounding traffic and road conditions and maintain a safe driving speed.

When AYC is operating, the driver may feel pulsation through the brake pedal, notice slight deceleration, or hear operating sounds from the braking system. These sensations are normal and indicate that Active Yaw Control is functioning as intended.

Active Ride Control

Active Ride Control monitors upper body movement of the vehicle and adjusts brake pressure at all four wheels to help improve ride comfort. By controlling wheel braking as the Mitsubishi Outlander travels over uneven or undulating road surfaces, the system helps reduce uncomfortable body pitching and other vehicle movements. When the ASC system is switched off, Active Ride Control is also disabled.

If the chassis control warning message appears in the multi-information display, the Active Ride Control system may not be operating correctly. Have the system checked as soon as practical. It is recommended that you visit an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer for this service.
