Condition A:

The warning and steering assist functions of the LDP system are not designed to operate under the following conditions:

  • When the turn signal is operated and the Mitsubishi Outlander changes lanes in the direction indicated by the signal. After the turn signal is switched off, the LDP system will remain deactivated for approximately 2 seconds.
  • When vehicle speed decreases below approximately 37 MPH (60 km/h).

Action to take:

Once the conditions described above are no longer present and all required operating conditions are satisfied, the LDP warning and steering assist functions will automatically resume.

Condition B:

The steering assist function of the LDP system is not designed to operate under the following conditions, although the warning function will remain available:

  • When the brake pedal is depressed.
  • When the steering wheel is turned sufficiently to indicate that the driver is intentionally changing lanes.
  • When the Mitsubishi Outlander is accelerated while the LDP system is operating.
  • When an Adaptive Cruise Control [ACC] approach warning occurs, if equipped.
  • When the hazard warning flashers are operating.
  • When driving through a curve at high speed.

Action to take:

After the conditions above have ended and the required operating conditions are restored, the LDP system will again be able to provide steering assistance.

If the following message appears in the multi-information display, a warning chime will sound and the LDP system will automatically switch off.

  • "Currently Unavailable":
    • When ASC is turned off.
    • When SNOW mode, GRAVEL mode, or MUD mode on an AWC-equipped Mitsubishi Outlander is selected.

Action to take:

When the conditions that caused the temporary shutdown are no longer present, turn off the LDP system. Then push the MI-PILOT Assist switch again to reactivate the Lane Departure Prevention system.

Condition D:

If the Mitsubishi Outlander has been parked in direct sunlight under high-temperature conditions above approximately 104ºF (40ºC) and the LDP system is then switched on, the system may be deactivated automatically. In this situation, the following message will appear in the multi-information display: "Unavailable Camera Temperature High".

Action to take:

When the interior temperature decreases sufficiently, the LDP system will automatically resume normal operation.

Condition E: When ABS or ASC, excluding traction control (TCS), is activated, the "Unavailable Slippery Road" warning will appear in the multi-information display, a warning buzzer will sound, and LDP system operation will be canceled.

Action to take:

Turn off the MI-PILOT Assist switch. After the road or vehicle condition that triggered the warning has improved, turn the LDP system on again.

System malfunction

If a malfunction occurs in the LDP system, the function will be canceled automatically. The LDP indicator (orange) will illuminate and the "Not Available System Malfunction" warning message will appear in the multi-information display.

If the LDP indicator (orange) illuminates, move the Mitsubishi Outlander safely off the road and stop in a suitable location. Turn the engine off, then restart it. If the LDP indicator remains illuminated after restarting the engine, have the Lane Departure Prevention system inspected. It is recommended that you visit an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer for this service.

System maintenance

Mitsubishi Outlander Lane Departure Prevention front camera location above the inside rearview mirror

Lane camera unit A used by the LDP system is located above the inside rearview mirror. To maintain proper operation of the Mitsubishi Outlander Lane Departure Prevention system and reduce the possibility of a malfunction, observe the following precautions:

  • Keep the windshield clean at all times, especially the area directly in front of the lane camera unit.
  • Do not attach stickers, including transparent materials, or install accessories near the camera unit, as they may interfere with the camera's field of view.
  • Do not place reflective materials such as white paper or mirrors on the instrument panel. Reflected sunlight may interfere with the camera unit's ability to detect lane markings accurately.
  • Do not strike, damage, or apply unnecessary force to the area around the camera unit. Do not touch the camera lens or remove the screw located on the camera unit. If the camera unit is damaged in an accident, it is recommended that the Mitsubishi Outlander be inspected by an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer.
