To remove the air cleaner filter, release lock pins 1 and pull the air cleaner unit upward in direction 2.
The air filter is not designed to be cleaned and reused. Replace it when required.
Replace the air cleaner filter according to the maintenance schedule provided in the separate maintenance booklet. Whenever the filter is replaced, wipe the inside of the air cleaner housing and its cover with a clean, damp cloth to remove accumulated dust and debris.
WARNING
- Do not operate or drive the Mitsubishi Outlander with the air cleaner filter removed. In addition to filtering incoming air, the air cleaner helps contain flame if an engine backfire occurs. Without the filter installed, a backfire could expose anyone near the engine compartment to flame and cause burns. Exercise particular caution whenever working on the engine with the air cleaner removed.
- Never pour fuel into the throttle body or attempt to start the engine while the air cleaner is removed. Doing so creates a serious risk of fire, burns, or other personal injury.
