Cleaning

If the windshield does not become clear after operating the windshield washer, or if the wiper blades chatter, skip, or leave streaks while moving, wax, dirt, road film, or other contamination may be present on the blades or windshield.

Clean the outside surface of the windshield with windshield washer solution or a mild detergent. The glass is considered clean when water spreads evenly over the surface rather than forming beads when rinsed with clear water.

Clean each wiper blade by wiping the rubber edge carefully with a cloth soaked in washer solution or a mild detergent.

After cleaning, rinse the blades thoroughly with clean water. If visibility through the windshield remains poor after the blades and glass have been cleaned and the wipers are used again, replace the wiper blades.

CAUTION

  • Worn, cracked, or damaged windshield wiper blades can scratch the windshield and reduce driver visibility, particularly in rain or other adverse weather.

Replacing

Mitsubishi Outlander windshield wiper blade removal and installation procedure

Replace the windshield wiper blades when they become worn, damaged, or no longer clean the glass effectively.

1. Carefully lift the wiper arm away from the windshield.

2. Pull up release tab A, rotate the wiper blade to the angle shown, and then push the blade downward in line with wiper arm 1 to remove it.

3. Insert the new wiper blade onto the wiper arm and push it into position until it clicks securely into place.

4. Push release tab A down to lock the wiper blade, then carefully lower the wiper arm back onto the windshield.

CAUTION

  • After replacing a wiper blade, return the wiper arm to its normal resting position. If the arm is left raised or incorrectly positioned, it may be damaged when the hood is opened.
  • Make sure the wiper blade rests correctly against the windshield glass. Incorrect positioning may allow wind pressure to place excessive force on the wiper arm and cause damage.

Rear window wiper blade

If inspection or replacement of the rear window wiper blade is required, it is recommended that you contact an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer for service.
