Engine compartment

Mitsubishi Outlander engine compartment fuse and fusible link box location

WARNING

  • Never install a fuse with an amperage rating higher or lower than the value specified on the fuse box cover. Using an incorrectly rated fuse can damage the electrical system or electronic control units and may create a risk of fire.

If an electrical component or system in the Mitsubishi Outlander stops operating, check the corresponding fuse for an open circuit.

1. Make sure the ignition switch and headlight switch are both turned off before inspecting or replacing any fuse.

2. Open the engine hood.

3. Remove the fuse/fusible link box cover by using a suitable tool and pressing the retaining tab as required.

4. Identify the fuse that corresponds to the electrical circuit that is not operating.

5. Remove the fuse using the fuse puller stored in the passenger compartment fuse box.

6. If fuse A is open, replace it with new fuse B of the correct amperage rating.

7. If the replacement fuse also opens shortly after installation, the electrical system may have a fault. Have the system inspected and repaired. It is recommended that you visit an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer for this service.

Fusible links

If an electrical component does not operate and all related fuses are in good condition, inspect the fusible links. If a fusible link is melted or damaged, replace it only with the appropriate genuine Mitsubishi Motors part.

For inspection or replacement of fusible links, it is recommended that you visit an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer.

Passenger compartment

WARNING

  • Never replace a fuse with one having an amperage rating higher or lower than the value specified on the fuse box cover. An incorrect fuse can damage electrical components or electronic control units and may result in a fire.

If any electrical equipment inside the Mitsubishi Outlander does not operate, inspect the corresponding passenger compartment fuse.

1. Confirm that the ignition switch and headlight switch are turned off.

2. Remove the passenger compartment fuse box cover.

3. Use fuse puller 1 to remove the fuse that requires inspection.

4. If fuse A is open, replace it with new fuse B of the same specified amperage rating.

5. If the replacement fuse also opens, have the electrical system inspected and repaired because an underlying circuit problem may be present. It is recommended that you visit an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer for this service.

Extended storage fuse switch

Mitsubishi Outlander extended storage fuse switch in the passenger compartment fuse box

To reduce battery discharge while the vehicle is being stored before delivery, the extended storage fuse switch is set to the off position at the factory. Before the Mitsubishi Outlander is delivered to the owner, the switch is pushed in to the on position. Under normal operation, it should remain switched on.

If the extended storage fuse switch is not fully pushed in and switched on, a warning message may appear in the meter display.

If certain electrical equipment does not operate, remove the extended storage fuse switch and inspect the associated fuse for an open condition.

NOTE

  • If the extended storage fuse switch itself malfunctions or the fuse inside it is open, the complete switch assembly does not necessarily need to be replaced. Remove the extended storage fuse switch and install a new fuse with the same specified amperage rating.

How to remove the extended storage fuse switch

1. Before removing the extended storage fuse switch, make sure the ignition switch is in the OFF or LOCK position.

2. Confirm that the headlight switch is in the OFF position.

3. Remove the fuse box cover.

4. Pinch the extended storage fuse switch securely and pull it outward.

5. Remove the extended storage fuse switch by pulling it straight out from the fuse box.
