If the braking system does not operate normally or braking performance appears reduced, have the Mitsubishi Outlander inspected as soon as possible. It is recommended that you visit an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer for diagnosis and service.
Self-adjusting brakes
The Mitsubishi Outlander is equipped with a self-adjusting braking system.
The disc brakes automatically compensate for normal brake pad wear each time the brake pedal is applied, helping maintain consistent pedal operation.
WARNING
- Have the braking system inspected if the brake pedal height does not return to its normal position.
It is recommended that you visit an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer for this service.
Brake pad wear warning
The disc brake pads are equipped with audible wear indicators that help warn when the pads have reached the point where replacement is required.
When a brake pad becomes sufficiently worn, a high-pitched scraping or squealing sound may be heard while the Mitsubishi Outlander is moving. At first, this sound may occur only when the brake pedal is depressed. As brake pad wear progresses, the warning sound may become continuous and remain audible even when the brake pedal is not being applied. If this wear warning sound is heard, have the brakes inspected as soon as possible.
Under certain driving conditions or in particular weather and climate conditions, occasional brake squeaks, squeals, or similar noises may occur. Temporary brake noise during light or moderate braking can be normal and does not necessarily indicate a reduction in braking performance or a malfunction of the brake system.
Follow the specified brake inspection intervals to help maintain safe and reliable braking performance.
