WARNING
- Radio waves emitted by the transmitter may adversely affect certain electronic medical devices. Anyone who uses a pacemaker should consult the manufacturer of the medical equipment regarding possible effects before using the F.A.S.T.-key system.
- The transmitter emits radio waves whenever its buttons are pressed. The FAA advises that these radio signals may affect aircraft navigation and communication systems. Do not operate the transmitter while aboard an aircraft, and make sure its buttons cannot be pressed unintentionally while the unit is stored during a flight.
The Free-hand Advanced Security Transmitter [F.A.S.T.-key] allows the Mitsubishi Outlander doors to be locked or unlocked through the remote keyless entry function or, if equipped, by using the request switch on the vehicle without removing the transmitter from a pocket, bag, or purse. Actual F.A.S.T.-key operation can be affected by the surrounding environment and operating conditions.
Read and understand the following information before using the F.A.S.T.-key system.
CAUTION
- Always carry the transmitter with you when operating the Mitsubishi Outlander.
- Never leave the transmitter inside the vehicle when you leave the Mitsubishi Outlander unattended.
The transmitter continuously communicates with the vehicle by receiving radio signals.
It also transmits weak radio waves when communicating with the vehicle systems.
Certain environmental conditions and nearby electronic devices may interfere with normal transmitter operation. Interference may occur under the following conditions:
- When the vehicle is being operated near a location that transmits strong radio waves, such as a television tower, power station, or broadcasting station.
- When carrying or using wireless equipment such as a cellular phone, transceiver, or CB radio close to the transmitter.
- When the transmitter is touching or covered by metallic materials.
- When another radio-frequency remote control is being operated nearby.
- When the transmitter is positioned close to an electrical appliance such as a personal computer.
- When the vehicle is parked near a parking meter.
If the F.A.S.T.-key does not operate normally under these conditions, move away from the possible source of interference or change the transmitter's position before trying again. If normal operation cannot be restored, use the emergency key.
Battery life varies according to operating conditions and usage, but the transmitter battery is designed to last approximately 2 years. If the battery becomes discharged, replace it with a new battery.
Because the transmitter is continuously receiving radio signals, leaving it for long periods near equipment that emits strong radio waves, such as a television or personal computer, may shorten battery life.
Up to 4 transmitters can be registered for use with one Mitsubishi Outlander. If an additional transmitter is purchased, take the vehicle together with all remaining registered transmitters to an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer. For details about purchasing, registering, and using additional transmitters, contact an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer.
CAUTION
- Do not allow the transmitter, which contains electronic components, to come into contact with fresh water or salt water. Moisture exposure can interfere with proper system operation.
- Do not drop the transmitter or subject it to unnecessary impact.
- Do not strike the transmitter sharply against another object.
- Do not alter, modify, or disassemble the transmitter.
- Moisture can damage the transmitter. If it becomes wet, wipe it immediately and dry it thoroughly.
- If the outside temperature falls below 14ºF (−10ºC), the transmitter battery may not function normally.
- Do not leave the transmitter for an extended period in an area where the temperature exceeds 140ºF (60ºC).
- Do not attach the transmitter to a key holder that contains a magnet.
- Do not place the transmitter near equipment that produces a magnetic or electromagnetic field, such as a television, audio equipment, personal computer, or cellular phone.
If a transmitter is lost or stolen, Mitsubishi Motors recommends erasing that transmitter's ID code from the vehicle. Doing so can help prevent unauthorized use of the missing transmitter to operate or access the Mitsubishi Outlander. For information about the ID-code erasing procedure, contact an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer.
The F.A.S.T.-key function can be disabled if necessary.
For information about disabling the F.A.S.T.-key function, contact an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer.
WARNING
- People who use implantable pacemakers or implantable cardiovascular-defibrillators should maintain an appropriate distance from the external and internal transmitters. The electromagnetic waves used by the F.A.S.T.-key system may affect the operation of implantable pacemakers or implantable cardiovascular-defibrillators.
- People who use other electronic medical devices, apart from implantable pacemakers and implantable cardiovascular-defibrillators, should consult the device manufacturer to determine whether the electromagnetic waves used by the transmitter could affect the equipment. Such electromagnetic signals may interfere with the operation of certain medical devices.
