Mitsubishi Outlander F.A.S.T.-key request switch operating range around the vehicle

The F.A.S.T.-key functions are available only when the transmitter is within the specified operating range of request switch 1.

If the transmitter battery is weak or discharged, or if strong radio-frequency interference is present near the vehicle, the effective operating range may become shorter and the Mitsubishi Outlander F.A.S.T.-key system may not operate correctly.

The normal operating range extends approximately 2.3 feet (70 cm) from each request switch 1.

If the transmitter is positioned too close to the door glass, door handle, or rear bumper, the request switch may not recognize it correctly and may fail to operate.

When the transmitter is within the specified operating range, a person who is not carrying the transmitter may still be able to operate the request switch to lock or unlock the doors, including the liftgate.

Door locks/unlocks precaution (models with request switch)

Mitsubishi Outlander door handle request switch and F.A.S.T.-key transmitter position precaution

  • Do not operate the door handle request switch while holding the transmitter immediately next to the door handle as illustrated. When the transmitter is extremely close to the handle, the F.A.S.T.-key system may have difficulty determining whether the transmitter is located inside or outside the vehicle.
  • After locking the Mitsubishi Outlander using a door handle request switch, check the door handles to confirm that all doors have been securely locked.
  • To avoid accidentally leaving the transmitter inside the vehicle, make sure you have the transmitter with you before locking the doors.
  • Do not pull the door handle before pressing the door handle request switch. The door may unlock but may not open immediately.

If this occurs, release the door handle completely, then pull it again to open the door.

NOTE

  • When "Unfold at Unlock" is selected in the Vehicle Settings menu of the multi-information display, Mitsubishi Outlander models equipped with the door mirror folding switch can automatically fold or extend the outside mirrors when all doors and the liftgate are locked or unlocked using the F.A.S.T.-key function.

This automatic mirror operation can be deactivated. Contact an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer for additional information.
