Mitsubishi Outlander seating positions and seat adjustment overview

The seats in the Mitsubishi Outlander are designed to support a comfortable and secure driving position while helping each occupant use the seat belt correctly. Before the vehicle is driven, every seat should be adjusted to suit the occupant, and all seatbacks should be placed in a stable, upright position.

WARNING

  • Do not place objects under the seats. Items left beneath a seat could interfere with the adjustment mechanism and prevent the seat from locking securely in position, increasing the risk of an accident.

Objects under the seat may also damage the seat rails, adjustment components or nearby parts.

  • Do not ride in a moving vehicle with the seatback excessively reclined. In this position, the shoulder belt may not remain correctly positioned against the body. During a collision, an occupant could be thrown forward, suffer an injury to the neck from the shoulder belt or sustain other serious internal injuries.
  • For the most effective protection while the Mitsubishi Outlander is moving, keep the seatback upright. Sit fully back in the seat with both feet on the floor, and adjust the seat so the seat belt fits properly across the body.
  • After completing any seat adjustment, gently rock the seat forward and backward to confirm that it is fully engaged and securely locked.
  • Always adjust the seat before beginning to drive.

Attempting to change the seat position while driving may distract the driver or cause the seat to move unexpectedly, which could lead to an accident.

  • Do not leave children unattended inside the vehicle. They may unknowingly operate switches, seat controls or other vehicle systems and could become involved in a serious accident.
  • To reduce the risk of injury or death caused by unintended operation of the vehicle or its systems, never leave children, people who require assistance or pets unattended in the Mitsubishi Outlander.

On a warm day, the temperature inside a closed vehicle can rise rapidly and may become dangerous enough to cause serious injury or death to people and animals.

  • Do not adjust the driver's seat while driving. The driver must keep full attention on vehicle operation, and a sudden movement of the seat could interfere with pedal control, steering or visibility and result in loss of control.
  • Do not recline the seatback farther than necessary for comfort. Seat belts provide the greatest protection when the occupant sits upright and well back in the seat. Excessive reclining increases the possibility of sliding under the lap belt during a collision and suffering serious injury.

CAUTION

  • When adjusting a seat, keep hands, feet, clothing and other objects away from moving components to prevent personal injury or damage to the seat mechanism.
  • Seat adjustments should be performed by an adult.

If a child operates the seat controls, the seat may move unexpectedly and cause injury or an accident.
