Checking lights

To verify that the Mitsubishi Outlander warning and indicator lights are functioning correctly, close all doors, apply the parking brake, fasten the seat belts and place the ignition switch in the ON position without starting the engine. The following lights, when fitted to the vehicle, should illuminate:

Mitsubishi Outlander warning light checked when ignition is switched on, Mitsubishi Outlander system warning indicator checked during startup, Mitsubishi Outlander red brake warning symbol checked during startup or Mitsubishi Outlander alternate red parking brake warning symbol (red), PARK or Mitsubishi Outlander parking brake indicator checked with ignition on, Mitsubishi Outlander startup warning light symbol, Mitsubishi Outlander startup system indicator symbol, Mitsubishi Outlander warning indicator illuminated during the ignition check

The following warning and indicator lights, when equipped, should illuminate briefly during the Mitsubishi Outlander startup check and then turn off after the monitored systems complete their self-diagnostic sequence:

Mitsubishi Outlander warning light included in the startup self-check, Mitsubishi Outlander indicator light that briefly illuminates at startup, Mitsubishi Outlander system warning symbol checked at ignition startup, Mitsubishi Outlander dashboard indicator included in the ignition self-check, Mitsubishi Outlander alternate startup warning symbol or Mitsubishi Outlander alternate system indicator checked at startup, Mitsubishi Outlander dashboard warning light tested when ignition is turned on, Mitsubishi Outlander red warning light included in the startup check or Mitsubishi Outlander alternate red warning indicator symbol (red), Mitsubishi Outlander yellow warning light included in the startup self-check (yellow), Mitsubishi Outlander system indicator that briefly illuminates during startup.

If a specified light does not illuminate, remains on when it should turn off, or behaves differently from the sequence described above, the cause may be a failed indicator bulb, a display fault or a malfunction in the related vehicle system.

Have the affected warning or indicator system inspected promptly. Mitsubishi Motors recommends taking the Mitsubishi Outlander to an authorized Mitsubishi Motors dealer for diagnosis and service.
