WARNING
- The following are limitations of the Rearview camera system. Failure to operate the Mitsubishi Outlander with these limitations in mind could result in serious injury or death.
- The system cannot eliminate all blind spots and may not display every object behind or around the vehicle.
- Areas immediately beneath the bumper and around the bumper corners are outside the Rearview camera's viewing range. Small objects below the bumper, objects close to the bumper, and objects lying directly on the ground may therefore not appear on the screen.
- Because the Rearview camera uses a wide-angle lens, objects shown on the display may appear at distances different from their actual distance from the vehicle.
- The orientation of objects in the Rearview camera image may appear visually opposite to the way they appear in the inside rearview mirror or door mirrors.
- Use the displayed guide lines only as approximate references.
Their apparent position can be affected by the number of occupants, fuel level, vehicle loading, road surface, vehicle position, and road gradient.
- Make sure the liftgate is fully closed and securely latched before reversing.
- Do not place objects on or over the Rearview camera. The camera is mounted above the rear license plate.
- When washing the vehicle with high-pressure water, do not spray directly at or around the camera. Water entering the camera unit could cause condensation on the lens, system malfunction, fire, or electric shock.
- Do not strike or subject the Rearview camera to impact. It is a precision component, and damage may lead to malfunction, fire, or electric shock.
The following conditions are normal operating limitations of the Rearview camera system and do not necessarily indicate a malfunction:
- When ambient temperature is extremely high or extremely low, objects may not be displayed clearly on the screen.
- If strong light shines directly into the camera, displayed objects may become difficult to see.
- Vertical streaks or lines may appear in the image because of strong light reflected from the bumper.
- The display may flicker under fluorescent lighting.
- The colors of objects shown by the Rearview camera may differ slightly from their actual colors.
- Objects may be difficult to distinguish on the monitor in very dark surroundings.
- A brief delay may occur when switching between different camera views.
- If dirt, rainwater, or snow accumulates on the camera lens, the Rearview camera image may become unclear. Clean the camera as required.
- Do not apply wax to the camera lens. If wax contacts the lens, remove it with a clean cloth dampened with a diluted mild cleaning agent, then wipe the lens dry with a clean cloth.
System maintenance

CAUTION
- Do not use alcohol, benzine, thinner, or similar strong solvents to clean the camera, as these products may discolor or damage its surface.
- Do not scratch, strike, or otherwise damage the camera, as damage to the unit can adversely affect the image shown on the monitor.
If dirt, rain, or snow accumulates on camera 1, the Mitsubishi Outlander Rearview camera may not display objects clearly. Clean the lens using a soft cloth dampened with a diluted mild cleaning agent, then wipe it carefully with a clean, dry cloth.
